I just checked on that online petition on EA forum that was made by Playstation 3 players, and according to that the servers on the PS3 version are indeed down.which makes it even more odd that Xbox 360 servers are still up and running.Batman Arkham Origins servers are P2P. From what I understood from EA's message it seemed pretty clear that with Crysis 2 the multiplayer would not be available anymore at all and I cant recall any other EA titles, where multiplayer servers would have been left running despite the announcement of server closure. Well I just hope that the servers will stay up until January.thats the only way some of us will get Dedication, as apparently the bug that allows you to get that achievement when year changes is still there.Īnyhow wasnt there similar cases recently with games such as GRAW 2 and Batman: Arhkham Origins as well? In my understanding everyone was expecting the servers for those games to shut down, yet this was not the case, but rather just some online functions were taken down/not working anymore, but nothing that would you preventing from getting achievements.Īnyhow in some cases I have seen that there has been merely a delay of few days to couple of weeks at most before servers have closed down, so I quess we have to just wait and see. On Playstation side however online servers have been closed down more and more often.makes me wonder if they will soon shut down PSN completely on PS3 like Microsoft did with original Xbox Live.
Atleast with Microsoft's 1st party games this would seem to be the case as even such games as Perfect Dark Zero, original Gears of War, Forza 2, Halo 3 etc all have their servers up and running. I also wonder would the fact that Xbox Live is based on monthly subscription fee affect these things, where as in PS3 there never was any kind of fee, that was only implemented in PS4. If it is so, Im certainly glad that I chose long time ago to play pretty much all multiplatform games on Xbox :D I really dont understand why P2P isnt the solution on every multiplayer out there, especially since I wouldnt imagine such thing would be hard to implement whenever the servers for the game would be decided to take down.
Well I really hope you are right one way or another. However I really doubt EA would keep the servers up just because of small surge in MP population and especially since those PS3 servers were already closed.īut it does give some hope that with Xbox 360 version things would work out differently.
