This same character is seen being crushed by rocks and implied torture and mental instability is seen from this character later.
Another character goes slightly mad and goes on a killing spree of enemy ninja when he sees this character's death infront of his eyes. In one scene a character has a hand from a character, with a special jutsu shoved through their heart and this is seen for awhile with blood coming from the character's wound and mouth before they die. From a gore perspective it does increase. Be warned a lot of main characters do die in this show. As the characters are older the details of character's deaths are show in more detail. I know for a fact that Shippuden aired on Disney XD to around episode 90 something until I was cancelled because the show was starting to get too violent for the channel before it moved to adult TV.The sexual content is around the same as the original but the violence is more explicit.
Please be warned that this series is a lot more darker in themes and the characters are slightly older than in the original storyline. It may be slightly confusing to viewers who've never watched Naruto before so watching the main storyline for the original is recommended before watching Shippuden. Naruto Shippuden is the sequel series to the original Naruto series. I would highly recommended this in an instance.
I gave it a rating of 11+ because I feel 11 year olds could be mature enough to know what and what not to do or try from watching this anime (My brother for example). I could go on forever about this anime, but I will just say, give it a try. He begins to understand that he has more responsibility, and understands that it's very important to protect the ones he loves. Naruto has grown so much in the era of the series and it shows. Along with the message of never giving up no matter what, stick to your goals/morals. The passion for peace and understanding along with friendship. Now on the the 2 main positives I see in this anime. Those are pretty much the only two sexual things really presented in the anime. Yes, there are times it'll pop up in the anime, but overall you won't constantly see pervy sage being a pervert or Naruto doing sexy ninja jutsu(the amount sexy jutsu that is used is actually decreased by quite alot in Shippden). I see people really getting on this anime for that reason and I will say it's not excessive what so ever. It has ninjas in it so you'd naturally expect that. If you are someone or have a child that is sensitive toward heavy violence, or isn't allowed to view it period, this isn't the show for you.
Now, before I get into all the good stuff, lets go ahead and state the negatives. I'm absolutely in love with this anime, it's great. I just recently finished all the the original Naruto and Naruto Shippden, while currently watching Boruto. I suggest previewing the first few episodes to see if it is up to your tastes. Tweens, maybe, if you feel comfortable with letting your kid watch it. There isn’t any smoking either, except for one character who usually has a lit cigarette in his mouth. For drinking and smoking, there isn’t much drinking besides the occasional trip to the bar. But besides a word here and there, they do not swear much. The swearing is moderate they use words like “damn”, “bastard”, and one time they used bitch. There is not any sex, although there are a few “pervy” characters. However, it has great messages and Naruto stands up for himself and his friends many times during the series. If you are going to watch this series, I suggest you prepare yourself for the worse, violence wise. In many fight scenes, there are characters with blood spurting from their throat. From what I have seen, I wish I would of started this series later.
I am currently on episode 70 something on Naruto Shippuden. I just started watching Naruto around a year ago, when I just turned 13.
